Don has been intimately involved in auto racing and preparation for over 25 years. Like many people in the industry he started in go-karting and began his professional racing career as crew chief with Gloy Sports Racing in 1984. In 1986 he joined Newman Haas Racing. In his twenty-two years with Newman Haas Racing, he was responsible for various technical and mechanical aspects of racing for many of the premier Indy Car drivers; Mario & Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Paul Tracy, Cristiano deMatta, Bruno Junqueira, Oriol Servia and Graham Rahal to name a few.

For nine years he was a Chief Mechanic, responsible for his crew of ten and 2 race cars, resulting in 20 race wins, a Championship in 2002, and a second place finish in 2003, 2004 & 2005.
